KINGDOM LIVING INSTITUTE HISTORY
Leading is defined as the act of influencing others to follow a particular path. While everybody is not born with the tenacity to be a leader, everyone was created with leadership potential. What better example than to provide a course of study that uses Jesus as its centerpiece and foundation to develop potential servant leaders for life?
The Kingdom Living Institute (KLI) was originally established in 1999 by Deacon Curtis Patton and Minister Ernestine Patton as the Discipleship Training Program. It was designed as the foundation for the ordination of Ministers and Deacons at the Living Truth Christian Center.
As the ministry grew, the Apostle discerned a need to develop the leadership potential of all partners as well as member of the surrounding community that was based on the word of God.
In 2004 the program was opened up to all adult ministry partners. It offered leadership development and consisted of a nine-month course of study in leadership principles.
Today it has evolved into a well-rounded program of study that begins with foundational studies in “Discovering the Truth” of God’s word and the key components of the Living Truth Christian Center (LTCC) ministry. All adult education and training for the LTCC partners are captured under the umbrella of KLI. It currently includes Discovering The Truth, The School of Ministry, The Elijah Ministry, Breakthrough and other self-development classes designed to produce leaders who use kingdom influence in their everyday lives.
Students are enrolled in classes that cover their purpose and spiritual gifts before going on to learn how to be effect team players and servant leaders for life. Elective classes are offered to enhance the learning and provide development in their chosen are of study.
The curriculum consists of twelve months of classroom instruction and three projects designed to allow the student to use a practical application to reinforce the principles that are taught. Hands on application allow students to use their gifts and talents in a controlled environment where feedback can be provided to enhance what they learned. They also give the student an opportunity to practice the leadership principles learned during the classroom instruction in a non-threatening atmosphere. They will then be able to apply the principles at home, in ministry, and in the marketplace so that they operate with kingdom influence in all areas of life.
The results have produced leaders for life with skills that cannot only be used in ministry but also in business.
The program is currently directed under the leadership of Apostle Amos L. Howard, Sr. and is led by Deacon Margaret Gilbert. Deacon Gilbert holds a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Human Resource Management and a Masters Degree in Education with a concentration in Adult Education.
